Willkommen and bienvenue, welcome... to Showchoir’s dazzling cabaret! Edinburgh University Footlights is proud to be returning with its spectacular Showchoir, “Welcome To The Cabaret!”. This year, Showchoir will be structured around the concept of a Cabaret. The idea is to have Cabaret members (performers, waiters, creatives...) gather and tell their stories whilst putting on a show. This concept enables us to explore multiple facets of each member’s personality, as well as their relationship to one another and, of course, gives us the opportunity to create great ensemble numbers.

A heartfelt celebration of the art of cabaret, performed by a young company which is, quite simply, on fire.
— All Edinburgh Theatre, 2022
The clever use of characters hooks the audience from the first act to the finale, providing a simple plotline to savour, suavely filling the transitions between iconic numbers.

This year’s Showchoir Production Team are delighted to present SEVEN, our interpretation of the deadly sins, with a positive and enlightening twist. We will be repurposing the traditional interpretation of the sins and using SEVEN to create a compelling and powerful piece of theatrical entertainment. We will be promoting pride of identity, liberation, feminism and mental health awareness.

A wonderful example of a community of people with a huge amount of talent who have come together to produce something really powerful
— The Student, 2019
The standing ovations and ongoing applause prove the success of this well directed and choreographed production, one that refreshingly reimagines many of our flaws and so-called ‘sins’ as positive aspects of ourselves to be celebrated and embraced.
